The Arrival of Football

Just returning from a long weekend at Orange Beach, I've returned to the work force...yet something is different.

The work weeks will begin to fly by, the office talk will centralize around the happenings in Athens, and it is apparent that football has arrived.

The commute becomes a battle in-and-of itself. I drive the top end of the perimeter from I-75 to I-85 and back every day. My allegiance is to Georgia, should your vanity plate have anything other than a bulldog head on it...well...all I can say is hopefully someone else will let you merge from 400. The same goes for those of you with car magnets and window flags. Early on Tennessee fans will litter the roadways with their flags until they remember their spit-cups and stop rolling down the windows.

The mornings have a crispness to them. The evenings are made for eating ice-cream and watching the sunset through the trees. Thursday nights the Tech fan heads downtown for his hotdog and Coke dinner at Mark Richt Field.

Louisiana Community College, Arkansas Backwood U, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee College for the Blind have cashed their opening week paycheck to be another team's whipping boy. As long as you aren't Arkansas or ole miss (thank God) you are done with the cupcakes and ready to play some decent competition. Oh, and if the Mississippi fanbase can return their SEC membership cards to Mike Slive that'd be fantastic before Jacksonville State gets their version of this built on Hwy 78.

Football is upon us, and we've got a doozy of a game this weekend Dawg fans. I predicted a loss because it keeps the expectations of greatness slightly muted, but I will pick the Dawgs to win...you ALWAYS pick the Dawgs to win. It'll be a knock-down, drag-out because both teams looked really good. But if our defense can find a way to keep Lattimore and Garcia on their backsides we're going to win.

I wish cupcake blowouts didn't pump me up so much, but they do. Aaron Murray looked like a born leader out there and as long as we can keep him from scrambling this weekend he should remain in 1 piece. The defense shined 99% of the time, and the 1% they didn't Coach Grantham put the secondary in a human centipede with Bacarri Rambo at the #3 spot.

I love Georgia football, and it has arrived. Go Dawgs!

The World's Worst Falcons Fan

That is the title I give myself. I know little to nothing about our team except that DJ Shockley is no longer employed by the organization and that is some UNEXCUSABLE BULL$#*+!!!

But seriously I've only attended 1 Falcons game in my lifetime of living in the metro-Atlanta area. I might have been 6 years old but I could be wrong on that, all I remember is someone spilled a beer on my sister and my father (who is a church minister) was FURIOUS! Unfortunately I doubt that was my sister's only encounter with alcohol in her lifetime. She being a huge Tech fan I'll assume drinking is what helped get her through the last 10 years...but I digress.

Back to topic, I wanted to make a commitment this year to watch more NFL football, primarily in my hometown market. After looking up their schedule I discovered the Falcons play 16 regular season football games. Therefore, I'm making a commitment to sit down and watch 3 Falcons games in their entirety this year. I know dedicating myself to less than 1/5 of a season is pretty underwhelming, but that's just the MINIMUM games I'm going to watch. I'd love to catch more, but I will watch NO LESS than the 3 best match-ups as voted by you. My wife would know best, that's a huge commitment for me.

But I'll need a little help from Falcons fans. Somebody has to instruct me about which games I should catch. Were a person to come to me and say "I want to watch 3 Georgia games this year, which ones should I catch?" my answer would be Florida, Auburn, and Tech (but the hammer-lock we're gonna put on Tennessee would be a SUPER-close 4th). The Falcon's schedule is posted top-right, vote so I have some good games to watch!

Also, please don't vote for a team just because former Bulldogs play for them. I love MoMass as much as the next guy but if the Browns are still the bums I assume they are then they probably shouldn't make the cut.

Swine Flu 2K9 Pandemic Watch Alert!!1

So seriously how did all the coeds from Tennessee get sick at once?!?!

BOOYAH!!!1

Seriously though, this if virus can take down Bea Arthur no one is safe...hold on...I'm getting an update on this story...yes....uh huh.....alright, my mistake. I apologize, apparently is wasn't swine flu that took down Maude, it was cancer...no details coming though but I'm assuming it was cancer of the prostate. Rose, Blanche, and Sophia could not be reached for comment...

Congratulations to Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno for getting their draft on in the first round. It's great publicity for the Dawgs and big dolla'-dollaz for the two players. It'll be interesting to see how they grow through the system of their respective teams. Can Knowshon still be the first one up off the ground when there are five 400lb defensemen laying on him??? Will Matthew's big arm be able to help Detroit win 1 frickin' game?!?! It'll be great fun to watch and I think I heard the Falcons open up with a scrimmage game against the Lions.

Finally, I was challenged by a Florida Gator to call out our boy, Stafford. And I ain't skuurd.

Matthew Stafford knew he was going to be the first to be drafted overall. He knew he was a pastey white boy. Finally, he put 2 and 2 together to realize he was going to be getting his picture taken ALOT for the event. So what does he do???

He caked on make-up to a depth that rivaled most pre-pubescent tween girls when they first discover foundation...that's what he did.

Do I blame him? Nope. Do I think he looks a little silly? Yep. But if he wants to look like Clayface from Batman the Animated Series while he makes enough money to turn me gay...that's his business.
He will throw a football through you, Calvin Johnson...right. through. you.

Working from home today. They are tearing my roof off my house to replace 3 layers of shingles with just 1 layer. I figured if I had 3 layers of shingles on my house there is no way I'd ever get a leak (you know, taking the idea of "double-bagging" to a third level). This however was incorrect and downright stupid now that I think about it. So, check me out on Twitter throughout the day and I'll try to post some pics as progress...progresses.

Happy Monday, you lucky S.O.B.s!

Just so you know:

28 more days until G-Day.

...wouldn't it be nice

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way for the Steelers to lose the "Super Game*" but still have this guy be the MVP???

(Also did you know there is a website called HalfKorean.com ?)

Call me cynical but I think the last thing the world needs is a bunch of bratwurst eating union workers having something to brag about.

I love Hines Ward. I think he's an excellent role model, especially because I remember reading a story about how he made it cool to be 1/2 Korean in Korea. (I know it sounds weird but apparently when he was a kid if you weren't 100% Korean it was like Roots over there). But I'm a sucker for underdogs and aside from Hershey's Chocolate I can't think of a single thing I like about the state of Pennsylvania.

Go Cards.

*not even I am brave enough to dare put the word "Super" next to the word "Bowl". Legal ramifications are a 'yotch.

...good Lord, Pam.

For anyone who is watching the Independence Bowl, hopefully you saw how handsome Pam Ward looked in the broadcast booth. Apparently George Zimmer gave her the finest suit Men's Warehouse had to offer.

...hottie.

Five Hour Energy and Sickness

I just want to go on the record and say Five Hour Energy is an incredible invention.

Free advertising from me is the equivalent of an endorsement, but I might not have made it through work Wednesday without this stuff. Following the AC/DC concert I couldn't hear a thing, and I stumbled into the house after midnight (wearing horns) fully prepared to hop into bed. Mrs. Mackalicious was on her game telling me to "Take those stupid horns off" and "Lord, you stink". So I went to bed, and shut my eyes for what seemed like 10-15 seconds and then my alarm went off...and I had to drag my sorry @$$ outta bed.

Work was hell, I had projects to do and wasn't in the mood to do anything but sleep. A mute reminder I'm not in college anymore where I could rock and roll all night and party ev-er-y-day. The concert was awesome and the 50-60 year old guys on stage were rocking like they weren't a day over 25. My problem is I felt like a 50-60 year old and I couldn't sleep it off. So I went to the gas station down the street and picked up a 5 Hour Energy.

If you've never had this stuff it tastes awful, but its only a shot-worth so you can down it quickly. This stuff is 1000% B Vitamins and gives you a boost within 2 minutes. The best part is, unlike Red Bull or Cocaine there isn't a harsh crash when everythings done working. I was right as rain for the rest of the day and got everything I needed done wrapped up.

I guess the only downside was it was mostly vitamin B and not vitamin C because I think I picked up a bug or something at some point. Now I've got lungs full of mucus and can't take a deep breath without coughing up slugs...ugh. Hopefully I can pull another miracle recovery as I did earlier this year when I tried to drink a gallon of OJ in one day while sickly, then 3 days later I was a champ again.

Either way, sorry to be gross but that's why posting has been so infrequent. My original assumption was my sickness was due to football withdrawal...but we all know that's more of a gastro-intestinal thing not so much respiratory. Oh well.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the craptacular bowl games. There really isn't much worth writing about for any of them...that's how awful they will be. But you know we'll still watch them anyway (/sigh).

For Auburn, Chizik = Great Hire!

GRRRRREAT work, Tigers!

In case you are wondering why I'm not on the "Auburn's AD made a moronic decision to hire this loser" bandwagon, I present to you exhibits "A" and "B".

Exhibit A: In July of 2008 I went on record with the following dumbass statements.

"I think Alabama's return to greatness will be delayed yet another season because of JPW's return as signal caller."

"...until the Crimson Tide get a competent QB under center they won't be beating Auburn anytime soon much less playing in the SEC Championship."

JPW is of course, John Parker Wilson, and if you are looking for your eggs, they're on my face.

Exhibit B: I can't give you a specific date or quote (automatically making it inadmissible in the court of law), but I'm sure at one point in time I made a joke about Tech's highschool offense being totes lame and Willie Martinez's teh awesomxorz defense shutting...them...dooowyyiiiiiii.

In addition to those previous statements, I would like to go on record with the following comments regarding future occurrences:

-Knowshon and Matthew will leave for the NFL.
-UGA will not go undefeated next year on their way not to win the national championship.
-Tim Tebow will delay his missionary work for one more year for Gator football.
-I won't receive a big Christmas bonus this year.
-My wife won't give me AC/DC's Nintendo Wii Rockband Track Pack.
-My early male pattern baldness will not be temporary and won't reverse itself.
-All the time and effort I put into this blog will never blossom into a killer book/movie deal.

Glad I was able to get that all out on the table there.

A Brief Lesson on Peppers

There are 3 things I do well in life...

1. Hold my liquor.

2. Outdoor grilling (be it ribs, steaks, or ice cream...I can grill them all to perfection).

3. Jambalaya.

(no photo available, reduces risk of secret recipe being stolen)

This year for the SEC Championship Game we had a few friends over and I thought I'd make my world famous recipe for Jambalaya. There is nothing like a warm bowl of stewed cajun yumminess to warm the soul on a chilly day. I figured the recipe tasted good enough, I'd add a little bit to help it look more presentable with larger chunks.

The recipe is moderately spicy and aside from the little dash of red pepper, there isn't really anything else to add spice. As I perused the aisle of my local grocer looking for cool stuff to throw in, I ran across the produce section with a wide selection of fresh peppers.

Eventually I figured if I threw in a couple of these pretty little yellowish/orange colored peppers I found, they'd look really cool floating around in the stew.

I have very little knowledge about peppers. I know Habaneros are a NO-NO, I know Jalapenos are awesome on cheeseburgers, and I know the long skinny red one that comes with my chinese food is damn near inedible.

So these little bitty yellowish/orange peppers (called Scotch Bonnet peppers) were no larger than a golf ball, and I'd always assumed as long as they were yellow they were pretty mild. Long story short, when it came time to throw everything in the pot, I cut these bad boys length-wise and tossed 'em in.

They looked a lot like this.

To put how incredibly frickin' holy hell hot the jambalaya turned out can only be best described with a bit of Mr. Roger's style schooling.

The degree of "hotness" in a pepper is measured in Scoville Heat Units.

The spicy Jalapeno weighs in at a hearty 5,000 units. The flame throwing Cayenne comes in at 60,000 units.

The Scotch Bonnet (of which I used 2 in a single pot) lands in the 325,000 range...second only to the Habanero which ranges from 100,000-1,000,000 units.

...Mrs. Mackalicious says I am no longer allowed to run Helter Skelter through the grocery store purchasing ingredients I think look pretty. Oh well, my punishment was having to eat the leftovers which stewed for 24 hours only to become more pungent to the taste. But since I enjoy spicy food, and she still has to sleep next to me...who is really getting punished here?

...heh, heh, heh.

Know thine enemy...

I was checking out the Tech blog I have linked just to see what the scuttle-butt was around the Nerd-o-sphere.

Their big deal about winning this game is preserving the only facet of Tech's record in this rivalry still Nerd positive. The Drought.

We've got more wins, more points, and SEC women on our side. Yet in a "what have you done for me lately" world, they still hold the streak...8 years. Our boys suffered 8 years of Hell from 1949-1956 (and they didn't have the luxery of a Second Life to escape to like Tech does today with their drought).

Theron Sapp broke "The Drought" rumbling for a 1 yard touchdown at Tech's home field in 1958 (which was just called "the field" back then, we now know it as Historic Mark Richt Field at Bobby Dodd Stadium). For his efforts his jersey was retired even without a Heisman like Herschel & Frank or a Rose Bowl victory like Charlie.

Breaking the drought? It was kind of a big deal around here.

I'm not really into the politics of what should or shouldn't constitute a jersey being retired, but I can imagine having 5 straight freshman>senior classes of recruits never knowing what it's like to beat your most hated rival is pretty frustrating. More power to you Theron!

The good news is since breaking The Drought, there hasn't been a single football player at Georgia who hasn't beaten Tech at least once in 4 years of eligibility. NOR has there been a single player who has inspired poetry from his fanbase without incorrectly stating the athlete being from "Nantucket". Per Harold M. Walker circa 1958...

*You can rave about your Sinkwich
And Trippi's praises sing,
While talk about the "Bowl Days"
Still makes the welkin ring.
But to all Bulldog supporters
In every precinct in the South,
I propose a hearty toast
To the man who broke the drought!
Rise up you loyal Georgians
From Tybee Light to Rabun Gap,
Here's to the Macon Mauler,
The mighty Theron Sapp.
I have seen some lovely paintings
In galleries of art,
Gorgeous sunsets on the water
Which stirred the inner heart.
But of all the wondrous visions
Ever seen by eyes of mine,
I'll take old number forty
Crashing through that Jacket line.
And so down through the ages
Whenever Bulldogs meet,
Whether in the peaceful countryside
Or on a crowded street,
The word will still be carried
By every loyal mouth-
Let's stand and drink another toast
To the man who broke the drought!

So after you successfully digest and pass your Thanksgiving Day fill. Make sure you've thanked your God, your Country, and your Momma...then thank Coach Richt for 7 straight years of kicking Tech's collective hind-ends. We as a spoiled-rotten fan base might think this year is disappointing, but looking back it could be a whole lot worse. Yeah, I'd like to beat Florida more than 2 times every 5 years...but much like the dark days of the 50's, these things too shall change.

I did some thinking about it and the last time the North Avenue Nerds beat us I couldn't purchase cigarettes or the REALLY REALLY REALLY dirty porno. Not that I have ever bought either, I'm just putting things into context, I'm a happily married, non-smoking 25 year old man who thinks a really good fried apple pie is waaaaay more exciting than anything Larry Flynt ever put out.

The Tech Whiteout

After the Alabama loss this year, many Dawg fans were perfectly fine tossing the whole "Blackout" thing away. I, however, sat through the entire game so my wife could scream the words to Rammer Jammer at my ear following the loss...and still enjoyed the Blackout game.

Yeah the loss sucked balls, but you have to admit a Blackout game gets the Dawg fans barkin'. The atmosphere is electric even if the team comes out and poo's on the field. So that being said I think we should bring the Blackout game back into rotation...in 2010. Take a year off and get our priorities straight so the media can stop with the "Georgia needs to stop caring about fashion" stories.

I went to 2 of the 3 Blackouts (Hawaii and Bama) and thought it was awesome, that's why I have such a hard time understanding this story.

I ate lunch with my wife today, and she brought up a very good point (and not the one telling me I need to ask for dress clothes for Christmas because "Professionals don't wear Georgia sweats and Pink Floyd t-shirts").

So the Nerds are having a tough time getting their fanbase on the Whiteout bandwagon. Mrs. Mackalicious brought up the fact, if they have any recruits coming to watch Tech play a big conference rivalry game...what will that kid think when he looks up into the stands and sees not only A SHART-LOAD of ugly chicks and nerdy looking dudes, but a fan-base divided on an idea meant to support the athletic program. Yeah, it's a long running joke that Tech fans wear 13 different shades of mustard, gold, and yellow and can't decide if they want to match it with blue or black, but if the football program they "support" wants them to wear white and give that GAWD AWFUL stadium some atmosphere for Pete's sake what is the problem?!?

Neither of us could put into words how pathetic and elitist this comes across.

Common complaints against wearing white were:

- “just a silly thing to do.” (sillier than World of Warcraft?)

- "Those who don’t own white Tech gear don’t want to buy something just to wear to one game." (the WORST excuse from a football fan ever!)

- " It will be too cold to wear just a sweatshirt, a problem for those who don’t own white jackets. Temperatures are expected to be in the 30s by the end of the game." (Boo Hoo, did you see the Central Michigan fans sitting in the SNOW last night?!?)

- "They say it’s gimmicky and, if Tech loses, the school will look foolish." (not as foolish as a failed Whiteout)

- "They don’t want to appear as if they’re copying Georgia, which has had three blackouts since last year." (or copying FSU, or Penn State, or Texas Tech, Arizona State, etc... who all do (insert color)-outs)

Anyway, there was one single awesome part of the article, which reads as follows...

“I was telling one of my friends that if we wanted to do something original, we should have a geekout and have a football game at the library,” Pritchett said, “because that’s where everyone is, anyway. It’d be a guaranteed sellout.”

PREACH IT, PRITCHETT!

But hearing that people were complaining about having to purchase a white article of clothing to wear once was the gayest thing I've ever heard. Fan Commandment #14 reads "Thou shalt purchase a minimum of 3 t-shirts yearly for your favorite team, and it shall be totally rad!" (Please note, the 20 Fan Commandments were written in the mid-80's so the language is a little dated). Anyway, if you can't find a way to purchase something that is white over the course of a lifetime of football seasons, you should be hanging out with Mr. Pritchett in the library and give me your ticket so I can go boo Tech in person wearing all black, which I'm prepared to do.

(Also, let it be know I'd boo Tech in person, but deep down inside I want them to win every game of the year...except one.)

Ball State / Central Michigan

I only caught the last half of the Ball State / Central Michigan game last night (because on Private Practice, Addison was confronting a trifling, good for nothin' type of brother who had 2 wives who were both preggers and I couldn't turn away from that train wreck). It essentially came down to do or die in the 4th quarter for the Chippewas and they weren't able to "do" so they "died".

Great game though, I was really hoping C. Michigan would pull the upset. I always cheer for anyone the Bulldogs play with a few exceptions (said team must be outside of our conference division during regular season play OR our division rivals during bowl season). LeFevour did what LeFevour does and passed for 345 yards and for a while the Chippewas were essentially going tit for tat with the Cards.

If you watched the last touchdown drive by Ball State, you may have been asking yourself, "Who is that really short running back making the Chippewas defense look like Willie Martinez is still coaching there?"

That player and undoubtedly their most powerful weapon was Ball State running back, Emmanuel Lewis.

At 5'6" and 184 (wet) lbs, Webster put up 177 yds on 28 carries but if you saw the last TD drive by Ball State you would have seen Mr. Popadopalous average 10.5 yards per carry on 6 downs. It was quite frustrating to watch because I wanted the Chippewas to win, but you had to be in awe of this kid. What he would do is run directly at the big mass of linemen at the line of scrimmage, then shoot out to the side after the defense lost sight of him (and at 5'6" it wasn't hard to do).

Capping the drive off with a touchdown pass put Central Michigan on the spot to score or lose, and their return drive fell short after not converting a 4th and 18 in Cardinal territory.

But I just wanted everyone who missed the game to know, that Emmanuel Lewis is doing great at Ball St. Every now and then his teammates bring up the whole dancing with Michael Jackson thing, but for the most part they're just kidding...

(Even in pads and gear, Lewis looks just as short on the gridiron)

However, I do recall an on-campus incident where Lewis went to sleep with his model rocket kit in the dorm room closet which caught fire and burned his dorm down. But Emmanuel came clean to his parents and the Ball State Dean of Students and was forgiven because he was honest about it. Tears were shed, and people were disappointed, but I think we all learned an important lesson about storing flammable materials and being honest.

(Alright, that's the end of my schpele. If you haven't caught on yet, the joke involved the Cardinals really short RB Miquale Lewis and I was using my vast knowledge of corny 80's sitcoms to connect a short black guy with the last name "Lewis" to the show Webster. Oh well, screw you, I thought it was funny.)

BAMA's Back B'yotch!

...and their fans don't want no lip!

This is a cut & paste job from AL.com.

An Escambia County couple died Saturday after an argument over the Alabama/LSU football game ended in shotgun blasts, according to Conecuh County authorities.

District Attorney Tommy Chapman identified the people killed as Dennis and Donna Smith of Appleton Road near Brewton.

The shooting allegedly occurred about 7 p.m. at the home of Michael Williams near the Owassa community in Conecuh County, Chapman said.

Williams was arrested, Chapman said, and charged with two counts of murder.

Dispatchers at the Conecuh County Sheriff's Office declined to comment about the case.

Investigators said witnesses told them that Dennis Smith, an LSU fan, called Williams, a fan of the Crimson Tide, after the game Saturday evening and an argument ensued.

Officers said Donna Smith was a relative of Michael Williams' girlfriend.

Soon, the Smiths arrived at Williams' home and the men wound up in a physical altercation, officers said.

Smith retrieved a pistol from his vehicle, and threatened Williams, who armed himself with a shotgun and fired two blasts, striking and killing Dennis Smith, officers said.

Donna Smith then threatened Williams, who shot and killed the woman, they said.

AND NO STORY IS COMPLETE WITHOUT THE GRANDE FINALE...

Investigators said alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the killings.

I completely understand, after all I received threats from my wife before the Georgia/Alabama game. I just fear what could have happened if UGA won.

...really, Mark Bradley?!?

Mark Bradley has obviously focused his attention at building up the UGA/Tech game by pulling the Nerd's meat in this poorly executed column.

The question: Which 7-2 team is having the better season?

The posed arguments:
-Tech has gone up, UGA has gone down (ranking-wise).
-Tech is in position to win their conference championship, UGA isn't.
-Tech hasn't been embarrassed in any of their losses.
-Tech is ranked 33rd of 119 in least penalized D-1 teams, UGA is 119th.

There are other points but when I try to read them they all turn into written out versions of the "Charlie Brown teacher" speaking noise.

Bradley's conclusion:
Tech is having the better season because it's been a pleasant surprise for it's fans.

AND NOW THE OFFICIAL BLOGGING PANTSLESS REASON WHY MARK BRADLEY IS WRONG!

Counterpoints:

-Tech has raised in rankings because when you are ranked at the bottom you tend to go up if you win. UGA went down 3 spots before we even lost a game. We lost to 2 of the current top 5 teams, Tech gets taco-popped whenever they play a team from the state of Virginia and takes 2 losses from unranked opponents (one of which opened up it's season with a sweet 45 point loss margin).

-Tech is in position to win it's conference championship...also, I'm in position to win the hurtles portion of the wheel-chair olympics. Lets try to compare apples to apples if possible, Mark.

-Tech hasn't been embarrassed in any of their losses because if you aren't expected to compete and you play a close game it is to be admired. Georgia kept the Bama game close but I'll be the first to admit we got our fudge packed by the Gaytors. However, I'll take a loss to an SEC opponent over a loss to an ACC opponent anyday...what's embarrassing now?!

-Tech may rank 33rd in least penalized teams, but UGA ranks #1 in most penalized teams BEEEEYOTCH!!! Eat it or we'll make you eat it!

Mark Bradley can build this up as much as he wants to, but I guarantee you as gay as it seems to complain about the posibility of a 10-2 season before bowl season starts we are pretty dang lucky. Pretty much anyone who looked at our opponents before the season started thought "Dang, that's a tough schedule." and assumed we'd take a loss here and there anyway. Yeah, we had some high hopes, but now since Kentucky should be a great whipping boy and Auburn is going to be like wrasslin' with your mentally challenged cousin; the Dawg Nation has it's eyes set on taking Tech's lunch money for the 8th straight year. Ask Donnan, Goff, or hell even Vince Dooley himself how a 10 win regular season here and there would have faired and you'll get the same positive response.

The season ain't over Dawgs, it's time to put a hurtin' on our last two SEC match-ups and hope Paul "Bobby Hill" Johnson takes notice. All we're playing for now is "Eight Straight In-State" (copywrite 2008, Pantsless Enterprises) and we've got our eyes set on the What's in your wallet? Bowl.

So Mark, saying Tech is having the better 7-2 season is like saying the poor kid down the street had a better Christmas than us because the Salvation Army brought him a slightly used Bob the Builder doll. Meanwhile we're partyin' with our new iPod, Nintendo Wii, and a whole mess of Lego's uncle Knowshon got us.

BETTER SEASON MY ASS!

See you on the 29th, NERDS!

How Do You Bark?

Just a quick question for my fellow Dawg fans.

What do you hear/scream during UGA football kickoffs?

"GoooOOoOooooOoooooo DAWGS, Sic 'em! _____,_____,_____!!"

Would you say it's a "woof"? Gator fans seem to think it's more of an "ARP". I personally holler something to the effect of "AURRGHE!" during the barking segment of the kickoff tradition.

What do you say? (and please spell it out to the best of your ability)

Thank you.

A Few Quick Notes

I would say thank God it's Friday but unless I get busy I'm gonna be working on Saturday. So I doubt there will be massive amounts of posting today, but if nothing else take comfort in knowing I'm a contributing member of society today and not some lazy bum who does nothing but spend all day cruising around the "blogosphere".

First off, I'd like to thank Auburn for having a down year. It's times like this where future Mackalicious will look back and think "How in the world did we make it through this schedule?". Then I'll remember 2 of the big name teams we played were having down years (lookin' at you Rocky Top) taking some of the weight off. But if we make it through these next two games with no more than 1 loss we'll be in good shape for a quality bowl game (but if I have to choose the loss by all means let it be to LSU). I say once we get back from Jacksonville our home stretch will be much easier than the middle stretch we completed. Looking at it now, Tech looks to be a pretty big game...who'd a thunk it?

Secondly, did anyone else catch Hines Ward on Pardon the Interruption yesterday? Sporting his Georgia hat and dismissing notions that his is a dirty blocker.

The interview was pretty funny especially when he pulled out a copy of the NFL policy on "putting bounties on players". Check it out if you can find it...I couldn't though.

Finally, if I don't get back on later to post anything else, know this. I think the LSU game is going to be our make or break game. If we go into Death Valley and take care of business, play like the game our guys were recruited to play, and leave with a solid performance we'll win and take the next one in Jacksonville. My fear is that we're going to go into this game like it's just another SEC game and play a mediocre game, with numerous mistakes, and penalize ourselves into a loss...heh heh, penalize ourselves.

But seriously we've got to have the breakout game that has become known as the trademark "Turning Point" of Coach Richt's seasons. I think LSU got blown out by Florida because they weren't the better team. I think we should be able to man-handle the tigers because we are the better team, whether we decide to perform is up to the players. My pick? Dawgs 32, LSU 18. Go Dawgs!

(With all due respect, Justin Wilson was the man as far as chefs go. I remember watching his cooking shows when I was a kid on GPTV just because I thought his accent was hilarious. I doubt he would have made it on the Food Network in today's world, I hear they look down on eating squirrel.)

Finally Friday

Posting will probably be light today. I've got a ton of work to do before I leave the office to get my gayness-on at Wicked tonight, THEN drive down to Callaway Gardens for the weekend. I'm sure if I get burned out I'll throw some stuff up later, but I wouldn't bank on much informative stuff today...or ever really.

If there was any news of awesomeness it's that my Mom's alma mater assisted in knocking a team out of UGA's way last night. So thanks TCU, you showed those Mormons who's boss! Poor Coach Mendenhall had to tuck his tail and return home to the wives & kids with his winning streak broken. I have no problem with either school, but in general I cheer against the team ranked ahead of the Dawgs.

Again, congratulations TCU, I'm sure my mom didn't even know you guys had a football team much less beat a Top 10 ranked opponent, but deep down inside she's going to be a little happier...because I'm happier, and she loves her baby boy.

GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL!

Well, I was wrong...

Looks like Tater Tot's out at Clemson. If you see my post below from Friday I asked how long ya'll thought he'd be there. I myself figured the mediocrity at Clemson ran deep and he'd still be there next year. Looks like I'm eating my words for lunch.
